Ozone

Ozone dosing is used as a supplementary method of disinfection. It is the most effective disinfection thanks to the unsurpassed oxidation properties of ozone. With this, there are certain technological conditions which need to be kept to ensure its correct functionality.

For private pools, the so called soft ozonisation is used, where the ozone is dosed into the water in low concentration. The ozone generator output is approx. 2-4g of ozone/hour.

For public pools, a full ozonisation can be used, with the generator output of approx. 80g of ozone/hour. The residual ozone, which could leak into the pool, needs to be destroyed. This can be done either with and activated charcoal or a UV radiation.

There is a huge difference in the resulting effect and the acquisition costs between the above described technologies, but even with the soft ozonisation, the positive impact on the pool is clearly seen and the investment costs are acceptable.
